MS, RD, DVM

A love of animals since childhood

When I was growing up, cats, dogs, and horses were important

members of our family. I was born in southern California, and

had dogs and cats as house pets. We moved to Spokane, Washington,

where I also had a horse and competed with him in hunter/jumper

classes through the American Horse Show Association.

Later on, I enjoyed competing with my horse in endurance races.

Early career in medicine

My first career was in human nutrition, and I received my Master of Science degree from Washington State University.   I completed my Post-Master of Science Internship in Human Nutrition at the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, Minnesota.  I then joined the Mayo Clinic staff.  Later on, I accepted the position of Chief Clinical Dietitian at a major medical center in Spokane, but eventually found that administration wasn't the best fit for me.

A lifelong dream come true

We all have those moments when we realize we don't want to reach eighty years of age, and look back over our lives with regret.  From the time I was little, I had always wanted to be a veterinarian.  So, I made a huge leap from a career in human  medicine and applied to the College of Veterinary Medicine in Pullman, Washington. In 1992, I graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Veterinary Medicine, with a special interest in cats. It was realizing a lifelong dream.

Feline veterinary care

Throughout my career as a veterinarian, my practice has always focused on cats. Most people don't realize how different animals are from each other, and specializing in felines allowed me to excel at treating cats with complicated issues. I love all animals, but cats have a special place in my heart.

After more than twenty years practicing as a veterinarian, I retired from full-time practice in 2015.

Not so retired

Although I closed my practice, my business, Cats Love Housecalls, allows me to continue being around them.

As a pet sitter, I'm compassionate, kind, and professional. My first priority is to take the greatest care of your pet possible. Having worked with animals my whole life, I know how important it is to have them stay home—that's what I do with my own pets!  With over 20 years experience as a practicing veterinarian, I love animals and I cherish, honor, respect, and support  the human-animal bond.

When I'm not with your pets, I have my own cats and dogs too. I enjoy running with my dogs, obedience training, agility, and protection work.
